For kids, the summer is a fun time to be out of school, take part in many activities, and go to the movies.

With finding fun things to do in Northern Colorado, the list is extremely long.

Many businesses have special events during the summer. This is a fantastic time to take advantage of all the wonderful things that your town has to offer.

Fun in Fort Collins, Colorado

For example, a few weeks ago, the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery had a “free” day for families.

My family and I all attended the local outdoor flower shop. Here, they had a free butterfly pavilion for the kids.

Throughout the summer, there are free events and activities all over Northern Colorado.

Not everything is free. Some businesses offer steep discounts for students and families during the summer months.

Fun at the Movies

The movies are a perfect example of a large discount.

Specifically, both Cinemark and AMC have a weekly show on Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 10 am.

Each week there is a different child-age movie. Cinemark sells tickets for $1 and AMC for $2. Remember, these are prices in Northern Colorado. They may differ from where you live. Call ahead if you have questions.

Fort Collins also has a $2 movie theater. The $2 movie theater in Fort Collins shows movies that have been out for a while.  It is not a bad deal if you are looking for the movie theater experience, but are on a budget.

If you have a SMART television or Roku, you know you have to download apps to watch shows or movies.

Have you ever heard of VUDU? It is a great platform to watch newly released movies and purchase the digital format. If you set up an account, you can keep all your digitally purchased movies together in one place.

Redbox is another fantastic place to rent movies for cheap. They also have video games if you are into that as well. I believe the rate is at $1.75 per rented DVD.

Movies are a great way to relax during the summer months.

You can watch movies on so many platforms. It just depends on how much research you want to do to find the opportunities out there.

For a fraction of the cost, you and your family can have a wonderful cinematic experience. You do not need to break the bank.
