On March 7, 2018, I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Stephanie James, as a guest on her radio show, The Spark. The topic is demystifying mental illness.

Stephanie is a psychotherapist, licensed clinical social worker, and host of her radio show. You can listen to her show every Wednesday, from 7 to 8 pm MST, on NoCo FM.

NoCo FM is an independent 24/7 streaming radio station and podcast network.

The Spark is all about guiding you to live the best life that you can.

It was such a blast to chat with Stephanie!

Speaking with Stephanie James

In the first part of the show, Stephanie spoke with an expert in mental illness. Dr. James Kagan, who is a psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience, gives his clinical perspective on mental illness.

In the second part of Stephanie’s show, I spoke with her. I had a chance to tell my story of living with bipolar disorder, my diagnosis of bipolar disorder, and to talk about my experience with my blog, The Bipolar Battle.

I think Stephanie is doing such a wonderful service to the community with The Spark. Her main goal is to help people each week with her program.

She covers topics such as health and wellness, psychology, motivation, and anything else that can help you lead a more happy and fulfilling life.

When I created my blog, I never thought I would do anything else except write my articles each week. Having a chance to be a guest on various radio shows has been an absolutely wonderful experience. I enjoy speaking on the radio as another platform to help educate and break down stigma.

I hope to get more into public speaking as well. It is another platform that would greatly benefit the community.

In 2017, I started my blog The Bipolar Battle. That was my official start to advocating for those of us with bipolar disorder. At the time, I was unaware that what I was doing was considered advocating. Not until later did I learn I was a mental-health advocate, specifically for bipolar disorder. At the end…
